What is a Wallflower?

Wallflower: a shy cat or kitten who is too afraid or insecure to involve themselves in social activities. When a wallflower is given the proper time, attention, and love they need to bloom- they are so very beautiful.

Our Wallflower program is for under-socialized and misunderstood cats and kittens – those most in need of help.  In the right home, a Wallflower will flourish and live their best lives!

About our Program

Who should adopt a Wallflower Cat?

Wallflower Cats make great companions but need a special owner willing to be patient, provide a safe,  space, and give extra love so the cat can become comfortable in their new environment. Ideal adopters should understand Wallflowers need time to adjust to their new home their own pace.

What type of home is needed for a Wallflower Cat?

The ideal home environment for a Wallflower Cat is quiet, stable, and offers a predictable routine. Each cat will have different needs specified in their bio, but some tend to prefer homes without young children, or a busy, active home. Some Wallflowers may be okay with another calm cat or kitten. In some cases, another cat or kitten can help the Wallflower feel more confident in their new home.

How can I help Wallflower Cats?

You can help our Wallflower cats by sponsoring an adoption fee, or donating your time to volunteer at Greater Hillsdale Humane Society.

Peeta & Bob- Bonded Pair

Peeta and Bob are a pair of longterm resident BESTIES!

They both weren’t too sure about other cats until they met each other and the rest is history! Peeta is a senior kitty, and he is ready to find a furever home with his best pal. They prefer a quiet lifestyle, and would do best without a dog in the home.

They are both neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and FeLV-FIV negative.

Meet Peeta Ma-Lard!

Peeta is fat and sassy kitty. Peeta was found in a crate in the end of a driveway with his mom (also chubby). The cage had a note on it from a previous owner explaining that they could no longer care for the kitties. A couple good people found them, and brought them to us. Peeta was adopted out to an older woman and was unfortunately returned- he was living his best life as a lap cat! We'd like him to find a great furever home.

Once adopted- he will most likely hide for a few days. He's not a fan of dogs barking here at the shelter, so we think a dog-free home would be best for this guy! Once he is comfortable, he's a very sweet kitty.

Peeta Ma-Lard is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and FeLV-FIV negative.

Sriracha

Meet Sriracha, a kitten with a fiery name and an equally vibrant personality. Don't let her RBF….er, her seemingly stern expression fool you; Sriracha is actually pretty sweet. She was feral when she came in and would hiss at our staff. Now she has learned that humans can be pretty awesome, especially when they feed her treats! She just can’t help but have that irritated look on her face!

Sriracha's looks aside, she is an independent soul who will love you according to her own rules. She doesn’t mind being held and will sit with humans to get brushed and groomed. She doesn’t love other cats, but she might do well with another cat that is also independent.

Sriracha is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all of her vaccinations, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV.
